Phase 02 · Design and identity

Albedo

The whitening. Impurities are washed away and the matter becomes clear, visible, recognisable.

In alchemy

Albedo, the whitening. After the black comes the washing, the ablutio: the decomposed matter is purified until it turns white. It is the phase of the moon and of silver, of the dawn that is not yet day: the light is there, reflected, and for the first time the shape of what is being made can be seen. Alchemists also called it the “lesser work”, because something precious already exists here.

In our work

This is when the bare problem of Nigredo takes a shape you can look at. Structure, interface, words, brand. We decide what a thing is called, where it lives, what happens when you touch it. Everything is seen before it is built, because changing a drawing costs an hour and changing a system costs a week.

What we actually do

We design the pages and the paths with real content, not filler. We put a clickable prototype in the hands of the people who will use the product and watch where they get stuck. We build the identity: the brand, the colours, the typefaces, the tone it speaks with. We write the texts that matter, because an interface is made mostly of words.

Why it matters

Clarity is the hardest thing to add afterwards. A product built without Albedo works but cannot be understood, and gets patched with tutorials, help pop-ups and support calls. Here, instead, clarity is decided at the table, while it is still free. And identity does the rest: it is the difference between “a website” and “your website”.

Then

With the clear shape in front of us, we build: Citrinitas.
